(Big Timber, Montana) MT CO STORE 25c FOR ONE TON OF CASH COAL Token

Neat token that someone decided to grind the edge off of. All readable and still very desirable, unlisted token....that is out of round.

The MT Co. Store was the Montana Trading Company Store. MT Trading provided a department store, lumber, hardware, a flour mill and electric power to its customers. Read over the token: it provided 25c in merchandise at the MT Store to those who brought in one ton of cash coal.

This token has never been reported before and to my knowledge is a one of a kind.

The MT Trading Co. has Montana Business Directory listings in Big Timber in the first decade of the 20th Century. See, for example, the 1904 Montana R. L. Polk Gazetteer, the 1906 MN-DAKS-MT Gazetteer and the 1908 Pacific Coast Agency Directory.
