Patrick B. McCarthy and John R. Barker were both long time Rapid City businessmen with Saloon, Liquor and Hotel businesses. Patrick McCarthy ran the International Hotel & Saloon at Main & Fifth Streets starting back in the 1880's. John Barker ran a Saloon at 7th & St Joe Streets.You can find him in 1890's and early turn of the century Business Directories. The Rapid City Business Directory dated June 12, 1911 lists the McCarthy and Barker Saloon.
