New Deal, (Montana) H. HEINBOCKEL 5c Token

At the time of the construction of the Fort Peck Dam in the late 1930's and 1940's eighteen boom towns or shanty towns sprang up around the Dam to meet the needs of the thousands of men and women working on the project. The largest of these towns were Wheeler, New Deal and Delano Heights.

Not much survives of most of these towns today...but we do have a few tokens and this is one of them. The token was originally collected by Lewis Egnew, who began collecting just after WW 11.
