Edward D. Matthews tan a Saloon in Jardine, Montana back in the first decade of the 20th Century. He has Business Directory listings, for example, in the 1904 and 1906 R. L. Polk Montana Gazetteers.

Jardine was was a small mining camp that was 6 miles out of Gardner. The Camp's population in 1904-06 was about 100.
