Bear Gulch-(Jardine, Montana) BEAR GULCH Token-Rare Unlisted

Bear Gulch was very close to Jardine, Montana and about 5 miles from Gardiner. The gold mining activities of the Bear Gulch Mining Company brought forth the Bear Gulch Hotel & Saloon - which issued this token. The Hotel and Saloon were active from about 1890 to the middle of the first decade of the 20th Century. See listings under Jardine, for example, in the 1900, 1904 and 1906 R. L. Polk Gazetteers. Copies of the Hotel's Listing and its advertisement in the 1900 Polk are provided below.

The Proprietor of the Hotel & Saloon was Walter M. Hoppe and he was also a Freighter and Contractor.
