The Crazy Horse Memorial is located in Custer County, South Dakota between Hill City and Custer - about 17 miles from Mt. Rushmore. The Memorial was begun by Korczak Ziolkowski in 1948 and is still under construction. When completed the carving of Crazy Horse, an Oglala Lakota warrior, could be the worlds largest sculpture. It will be 651 feet wide and 543 feet high.
