Great Falls, Montana RICHARD GIES SALOON Token

Richard Gies ran a Saloon in Great Falls at 120 Central Avenue from the late 1890's to the arrival of Prohibition in Montana in 1919. In the early years this Saloon was called the 16 to 1 Saloon. That reference was to the issue of the ratio of gold to silver in US coinage, which was an issue in political campaigns of the 1890's.
