J. J. Sykes was the namesake of Sykes, Montana. Sykes is 20 miles E. of Ekalaka and the token comes from Sykes Store & Saloon. Sykes was a tiny settlement of just a few people (about 10) in the early days of Sykes store. The token dates somewhere between the 1890's and 1907. Sykes did not have a listing in Montana Business Directories until about 1912...but the token dates much before that. The token comes from the Chauncey Riggs Collection.
